HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN

I remember getting so excited to carve pumpkins as a kid. Spreading out the newspaper on the kitchen table and digging the seeds out with my hands. I always made my pumpkins completely smooth and seed-free by using a spoon to gouge out the slime on the inside. My pumpkins always looked the same; triangle eyes and nose and a toothy grin.

Through the years I haven't been bitten by the spirit of halloween, if there is such a thing. But once, a few years ago, I decided to carve a pumpkin again. I took a really fun idea from Martha Stewart (which you can see in the photo) and it looked fabulous when I was done. Get directions here. You can also use a cookie cutter and get similar results.
