TO PLAY OR NOT TO PLAY

It's frisbee. And it's ultimate.

Sure I'd heard of it. After all, I did grow up in Cache Valley and I did watch all the cute hippie boys playing it out on the quad at Utah State. But I'd never played until I met my hot husband Nate. Nate has a few things that he is uber-passionate about. Besides me they include, skiing, his job, blackberry, open source/Linux, motorcycle, indie rock, and ultimate frisbee.

We'd been dating about five months when he invited me to join spring league ultimate frisbee with him and play for real. So I agreed. I went to one practice which turned into a pickup game, and decided it just wasn't the sport for me. You have to have total fast twitch muscles and enough speed, agility, and endurance to run around the field just like a soccer player for two hours. Girls are a novelty in ultimate frisbee so you're lucky to have a team with a few extra female players. If you have two out on the field but no extras to sub-out, it makes for a long game for the ladies! I'm 35. I'm active and pretty athletic, but I'm no Mia Hamm. Needless to say, I never went back to the team last fall.

Since then, Nate and I have been tossing the frisbee around and I'm getting better. I'm sure it's part of his grand design. My forehand is improving and I can catch more aggressively, too. Nate signed up for the fall league and they had their first game last Saturday. I went to watch, but Nate really wants me to play. I'm torn and now I'm faced with the decision of whether or not to join the fall league. Any advice?
