JOY OF COOKING - 75th EDITION

I had no idea of the history behind the Joy of Cooking cookbook. Diane Rehm was interviewing the grandson of Irma S. Rombauer this morning and told Irma's story.
75 years ago in St. Louis, Irma spent her life savings to self-publish Joy of Cooking. It was during the depression and her husband had just taken his life. Her daughter provided the illustrations for the book and they sold it out of Irma's apartment.
Hooray for Irma and her entrepreneurial spirit, her love of cooking and her contribution to so many kitchens across the world. The special 75th edition is out now and bosts hundreds of brand new recipes.
