HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA: I LOVE YOU!
My Grandma celebrates her birthday today. She's so chic; always looks so put together and perfectly accessorized for any occasion. Beyond just looking beautiful all the time, she's such a good role model for me - always doing things for others and making her family her priority. Things I love about my Grandma:
1. Her name. Cleo is such a cute name.
2. Her cooking. She makes the best roles, be they cinnamon or dinner; I could eat them 'til I popped.
3. Her sense of style. For one of her monumental birthdays, each granddaughter celebrated her eye for couture by modeling a different outfit {complete with shoes and handbags} at her party. 4. Her consistency. I can always count on my Grandma to support me in anything I do. When I was feeling anxiety just moments before I got married, she made me feel so much better. Tonia: "Grandma, were you nervous when you got married?" Grandma: "Which time dear?" All better!
5. Her example. My Grandma had a career once her children were grown. I've always thought of her as a strong and independent woman because of this. She was a radiologist.
6. Her sense of humor. The first time Nate hugged her he apologized for his forwardness. She replied, "I'll never complain about getting a hug from a handsome, younger man."
7. Her spunk. Though not large in stature, my Grandma is large in life. She's the kind of woman you want to be sitting next to at a dinner party because she is always saying witty, humorous things.
8. She loves me. My Grandma has always sent me birthday cards. Always. Each time I moved it might have gotten easier to lose track of me and forget to send a card. But she always found me!
9. Her grace. My Grandma has always been a graceful, lady-like woman. From the time I was a little girl I remember her having good posture, using cold-cream to remove her makeup, being polite and thoughtful, and always, making something yummy to eat.
10. She plays a mean organ. Memories of dancing around her living room while she plunked out a jig on the organ will live with me for the rest of my life. Hearing her sing under her breath was an occasional treat.
11. Artistic talent. She is such a good seamstress and needleworker. I have some beautiful things that my Grandma has made for me and I know people envy me because of them. She also managed to make me the coolest jeans in elementary school.
Happy Birthday Grandma. I love you very much!
