MERRY CHRISTMAS: BRIT STYLE

Christmas. I blinked and it was gone. Nate and I spent the holiday with our families in Logan. It was cold and snowy; just the way Christmas should be. We even got an obligatory snow storm on Christmas eve that left everything absolutely beautiful. Caught a cold? Check. Played Rock Band and watched movies with family? Check. Shopping with my mom? Check. Nate hit the slopes? Check. Cool rocker converse shoes? Check. Tickets to a reunited Blur concert in Hyde Park London? CHECK!
That's right. Nate surprised me with tickets to the reunion tour in London. Look out Britain...I'll be rocking with you in July!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY

My mother-in-law Becky's birthday was yesterday. Lame that I'm posting late; thank heaven for the mantra "better late than never". Happy Birthday Becky. Hope you take some time this weekend to relax.

HOORAY FOR ABIGAIL

Abby is my very first ever niece. We've shared many beauty regimes, shopping excursions, and a love for triathlons {although she keeps doing them and I'm sadly out of shape}. Hope you have a great time in Orlando with your family Ab. Good luck with the jump roap competition.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN

Happy Birthday to my brother Ryan. I still remember him reinacting the He-Man intro wearing underoos and his plastic, glow-in-the-dark sword. "...by the power of grey skull..."
Love you RJ, hope you had a splendid birthday even though you are far away from family. We'll celebrate {hopefully sometime this year} when neither of us is traveling.

FAMILY REUNION IDEAS

The second ever Thompson family reunion is coming up in August and this year Nate and I are hosting the gang at Chateau Conger. I have a brother in a wheelchair so picking a place that is friendly to his needs is a bit tricky but altogether worth it.

Activities offered by our neighborhood include:
+ lots of walking paths perfect for pushing wheelchairs right down to the lake
+ family fishing at the lake {just one block away}
+ swimming pool opens next week {yay}
+ splash pool perfect for little ones to splash in
+ plenty of basketball courts to reserve for friendly family game of HORSE
+ Wii competition
+Cricut card making and scrapbooking

I am looking for fun games and activities to add to the agenda. If you have any favorites from some of your own family gatherings, please share. I'd really like to make this a special family experience and create a few new traditions along the way.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATE AND HUGO!!

Happy birthday to my hot husband. He's 32 but still rolls like he's 22! We celebrated Hugo's birthday this weekend and I snapped this photo; isn't it shocking how much the two birthday guys look alike? So sweet! April 21 rocks with hotness!

SURVEY SAYS

This is my 12 year old niece Abby. She called me today to ask if I'd pose this survey question on my blog for an assignment she is doing in school. Of course! So I'm hoping you'll participate and leave your answer in the form of a comment. All for the sake of education!

How many bones have you broken in your life?

Just leave a comment that includes your first name and the number. Feel free to answer for spouses and/or children.

Tonia = 10 bones. My parents actually had me tested for brittle bones. Test results came back negative which can only mean one thing. I'm a klutz.

Bone Summary: arm, arm, arm, arm, arm, foot, thumb, wrist, nose, tail bone (I'm sure there are more but I cannot remember.

HOORAY FOR MOM!

Today is my Mom's birthday. I drove to Ogden with Ryan, Ruth and Hugo and we met my Dad, Mom, Andrew, LaShel, and Adelia for lunch. After a long week, being with my family was a great recharge. And spending time with my Mom on her birthday was an extra treat; she is wonderful.
This is what it looks like when two best friends get to spend the afternoon together. Love you mom!

Oh, and we also kissed these four cheeks all afternoon.

SMELLS LIKE A FAMILY REUNION

We had the Thompson Family Reunion this weekend and had a lot of fun. My sister-in-law Ruth kindly offered her family's cabin up American Fork Canyon which was the perfect place to hang out, eat too much, play lots of games, and take in the free feeling of being someplace without deadlines and bosses and marketing campaigns.
When my family gets together, we really take advantage of the opportunity to hang out and have fun. No one disappears or goes off by themselves; we all interact and laugh and enjoy the confusion of having six conversations at once.
This weekend included lots of laughing, games, 14 people sharing one bathroom, good food, fishing, tie-dying, more games, lots of blow up mattresses, and a whirlwind cleaning frenzie just before we left. All in all it was a great time and I look forward to the next one.
Here are some photos of our weekend.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LASHEL ON AUG 5!

LaShel is my cute sister-in-law, married to Andrew. She is a really pretty, smart, adventurous woman who is also mama to Adelia. Anyone who knows LaShel should call her and tell how great she is. Love you!

HOORAY FOR BLAKE-Y

It's my brother-in-law Blake's birthday today {we were all apparently supposed to marry someone born on July 20 but only Ryan and Kathy obeyed the rule}. Happy Birthday Blake! We showed your landscape plans to the powers-that-be {we like to call him Hank Kennecott} and they were approved on-the-spot. You designed a masterpiece for us! Hope your day is not entirely spent at work!

YIPPEE FOR RUTH THOMPSON

It's Ruth's Birthday today! Ruth is one of those girls who looks put together no matter how early in the morning or late at night. She is a wonderful wife to my brother Ryan and a fabulous mom to one of the cutest baby boys in existence. Love you Ruthie!

TIME TO RELAX

Nate and I are headed to Bear Lake for some sun and relaxation with his family at a family lake house {not the one pictured...i wish}. One thing I've been dreaming about since the last time we went is the double headed shower. It's the little luxuries like two shower heads that make something feel exceptionally decadant.

HOORAY FOR MY MOM!

Just a few months after graduating, my mom received a fabulous promotion at work. Congratulations mom; I'm very proud of you!

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING SO SWEET?

This was Hugo and Adelia's first play date. So darling.

YIPPEEEEEE IT'S OLIVIA'S BIRTHDAY!

Olivia's birthday is the last in our June trilogy. Her birthday was June 27, and I missed posting it because of the devastating illness I contracted on Monday.
Do you know of a four year old who is determined and motivated enough to run a mile race? Well, I do. And her name is beautiful Liv. She's so fun and smart and really knows how to pose for the camera. If she is wearing sunglasses she looks like someone famous. I just adore her.

HIP HIP HOORAY FOR ABBY!!

Okay, there is a caviat to this post. After posting on Monday I went to my hotel room and fell ill. Very ill. I slept all the way through Tuesday and barely became conscious on Wednesday evening. Because of my ill-fated first few days in San Francisco, I missed, completely, my darling Abby's birthday on June 26.
Abby is my very first neice. She's perfection. She did her first triathlon at age 10, won in her age group at age 11 and I just can't wait to see what she does this year. She has a solid 4.0 at school and participates in a competitive jump rope team that is performing at Stadium of Fire this year.
This girl has it together. She's incredibly motivated and doesn't let a goal go unattained. She's very sweet and kind to everyone. Her mom and dad always tell me what a great daughter she is and I can say first hand what a fabulous neice she is, too. On top of all this, Abby is gorgeous! Drop dead, in fact.
Happy Birthday Abigail! I love you to the moon Darlin'!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!

Ryan was born 26 short years ago. He is one of the best little brothers a girl can have. This year he's the dad to the adorable and ever-famous Hugo Moses. Yum. Happy Birthday Ry-guy.
