BLINDED BY THE CHOICES

Nate and I need to cover our windows pronto. I am pretty sure I flashed a guy today and will continue to do so until we have privacy. That being said, I'm basically at a loss for window coverings. I originally wanted beautiful raw silk curtains hanging in my greatroom {pictured below}.

But now that we are in our house, I've really fallen for the beautiful window casings and hate to cover them up. I think the only room that will get curtains is the master bedroom, so we can sleep in total darkness.
In my search for the perfect window covering, I stumbled upon this article in styleathome.com
in which they talk about that darling condo featured in The Break up with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. Here's a photo to jog your memory.

What I like about this room is that the walls look warm while still a nice light shade, the window casings are nearly white and they've used a darker bamboo roman shade. It keeps the room really warm. I think the same might work in my house rather then standard 2" blinds. The dark color would draw attention to and excentuate the pretty wood casings. My other option could be plantation shutters {in white} which I like for different reasons.
Opinions please!

Oooo. Tough choice. I like them both and probably lean toward the roman shades. Although, the shutters allow you to adjust the lighting through the entire window and not just from the bottom up.

Ooh thats a tough one. If the windows weren't so big I would have some ideas. It seems like what would work for normal windows might look a little funny. What do the other houses with your same floor plan do? What did your interior designer suggest?

I like roman shades for subtle curtainage. SelectBlinds.com had the best deals when I was on the same hunt.

Oh, don´t cover those beautiful huge windows in your greatroom! It´s perfect without any shades.

Here's a link to "Windows that Wow" from HGTV. I thought of you when I got my e-mail with this info!
