Nate and I have called the blue cottage "home" for a year now. A YEAR! It seems the older I get the faster time goes by.
It's hard to believe that just a year ago we were living in the basement of our good friend Mike. We took to his futon like love at first site and slept on the blow up mattress {lovingly referred to as "the taco"} for two months straight.
Since moving into the blue cottage we've celebrated Nate's 31st birthday, my 36th, and our second anniversary. We bought our first fake Christmas tree and basted our first Thanksgiving turkey. We've also fried up fish we caught in the lake and taken a canoe out for a paddle. We did landscaping in our back yard thanks to the helping hands of my parents, and witnessed my miraculous professional break-up with the office bully. We built our first snowman, had our first-ever snow day, and celebrated with a teeny weeny snowball fight.
There's lots of little details and memories we've made here and the blue cottage really feels like a part of the family now. Whenever anyone asks me if we have children yet, I always want to explain that the blue cottage is like our child. We worry about it, spend lots of money and time on it, make plans for its future, and we miss it when we're away for a long time. The only thing we don't have to worry about is how to pay for its college education.
Here's to the Blue Cottage. Now, even when we move, this house will forever be referred to as "The Congers' Old Place". We've officially left our mark!

I wish I could feel so much love for our bungalow. So much work, it's like having a teenager getting arrested, then sending him to rehab.
Isn't it great when you can call your house your home? Even more so, when you get to call your home a cottage! Hope ya'll stick around for a while.
"IT TAKES A HEAP OF LIVING, TO MAKE A HOUSE A HOME" !!! May all your memories be as happy as the last year. LOL G
I absolutely love the house. I figured I would check out the blog after hearing about it on numerous occasions from my wife. I didnt think they made cool houses anymore, but I stand corrected.
Thanks Brandon! The houses in Daybreak are really charming. If you haven't driven around the area, you should. They've tried to embrace the older feel of neighborhoods in Sugarhouse and in the Avenues. I think they've done a great job.
Tonia, such a lovely home! And such a lovely story. I hope no matter where you and Nate are that your house always becomes your home. It's a great feeling, isn't it? xx
Tonia,
Found your blog off of Brandi & Tim's blog! We are friends with them too. We actually live in Daybreak so I had to comment! Love your house it is so darling.

Hey Courtney,
We'll have to meet. If you are friends with T & B then you are definitely our kind of people. That way, when they come for visits we can share them!
Congrats! I've always loved your house, esp. the porch out front. My dream house has a fantastic front porch.
