Lastnight Nate and I saw Year of the Dog, starring Molly Shannon, John C. Reilly {Taledega Nights, "Shake and Bake"}, Regina King, Peter Sarsgaard, and Laura Dern; written and directed by Mike White. I think this one should do really well in regular theaters. It's quirky enough {like Little Miss Sunshine} to expose itself as an independent film, but it's humor and warmth make it bound for wide-release.
Like the trite metaphor of the onion, it seems to have an agenda and at first glance you might think this movie was heavily sponsored by PETA but if you peel the layers you'll get a sense for what it means to be a passionate human being. Look for general release in mid-April. Clemantine gives if 4 of 5 stars.
