OH TENNENBAUM

This year Nate and I got a faux tree. Neither of us felt good about cutting down a fresh tree to sit in the house for 30 days; only to be thrown to the curb when it got dry and "out of season". Our tree is perfect and came pre-lit. It took us about 30 minutes to set it up and spread out the branches and I don't have to worry about watering it. I do miss the pine smell though.
I didn't have a tree skirt so I used some Maasai fabric I got in Africa and it seems to do a fabulous job.

I'm still working on a collection of these so until then, I used old vintage Christmas cards with red ribbon to dress up the tree. They are just campy enough to make me smile.

GAY PARI!

Last year Nate and I spent about two weeks in France. We toured Paris and then took a sleeper train to Nice for a week where we dipped our toes in the Mediterranean and visited Monaco for a day. I am thinking about that trip today; wishing we could do it over and enjoy the time away from our super hectic schedules. Le sigh.

1. Flowers at farmer's market in Nice
2. Patisserie in Nice
3. Mediterranean
4. Moulin Rouge
5. Fair in Monaco
6. Parisian metro sign
7. Le kiss
8. Eiffel
9-10. Carousel in Nice

CHASING CHRISTMAS

Remember how fun Christmas used to be when you were young? And remember how LONG the month of December felt when you were waiting for Santa to fly by and dump his bag on your rooftop? What happened to those days? Lately it feels like something I think about during the two hours I have to shop after work. And it's something that I worry about, but never make a dent in, during the weekends {read How Many Christmas Parties this Year?}.
I've been trying to find and keep the Christmas spirit but it's sure elusive. What do you do to make the season feel special? Any advice you can give a girl that feels like she's chasing Christmas?

WHAT SONG WERE THEY LISTENING TO WHEN:

You were born? Go here and enter in your birthday and year and you'll discover what your parent's were jamming to the day you entered the world. If you care to comment, leave your song so we can all have a good laugh. Mine: Indian Reservation by The Raiders.

BRIGHT EYES: WHITE CHRISTMAS

If this song doesn't make you want to cuddle up with someone sweet and watch the embers burn out, I don't know what will.

GOOD WINTER FOOTWEAR

I've been at a loss for what to wear this winter. My feet are always cold and I ruin everything by walking through the mounds of snow that lay piled around the streets and sidewalks. Not snow proof and easily ruined, I'd love to give these a walk-about.
Blue T-Straps from Top Shop. Everything else from Anthropologie.

PERFECT WITH WINTER KISSED CHEEKS

This jacket from Top Shop is the perfect cover for just about anything.

TWO COMMERCIALS THAT MAKE ME GIGGLE

This one because the burger sings an Air Supply song:

And this one because the guy does a sensual Flashdance impersonation:

CAR ENVY

Courtney's post about her beauty of a vintage car really changed my perspective. Doesn't she just look divine in her heirloom fur coat, sitting in that pretty car?

MY GRANDMA HAS EVERYTHING

Except {I'm hoping} for this book. If you came to my house right now you'd find my snowflake books sitting out on the coffee table. This book talks about how snowflakes are made and shows you photographs of different kinds. So pretty. I recommend this book to anyone who seems to have everything. My Grandma and Nate's Grandparents will be receiving this book for the holidays.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MARTIN AND KYM

They did it. They tied the knot. Everyone was sparkly and beautiful and now they are laying on the beach somewhere in Hawaii giggling about it all.
I'm re-posting one of my favorite poems in their honor.

BRIDE
by Thomas Hornsby Ferril

After the turgid incidence and when
The last mad whispering had darkly blown
Away, letting the woods be real again,
He propped his elbow on a lichened stone.
"I've climbed that mountain many times alone,"
He said at length. She stared, then asked him how
One felt at timberline. He answered "One
Feels much as we do now," remembering snow
That must have cooled whatever long ago
Had cracked the rocks with terrible ecstasy.
"It's not so wild up there, you feel as though
Something were finished. You're at peace with sky
And earth, as we are now." She pointed where
The peak seemed highest, whispering "Take me there."
