I WAS TEASED FOR BEING A TOMBOY

When I was in middle school I got my first job as a paper girl. I delivered The Herald Journal in true 1980's style. A-symmetrical bob, "risky business" style sunglasses, lots of jelly bracelets, and an attitude that probably seemed pretty off-putting. I was channeling my inner Madonna.

If you can imagine a 14-year old girl in strappy gladiator sandals {we called them Jesus sandals in the '80s}, ratted out bob with a pink checkerboard shaved in the back, lip gloss, and a saddlebag style carrier worn over my shoulders; I was a complete site to behold. I still don't like small dogs {sorry all you small dog owners but they snap at people's heals and you never discipline them} and have issues with the smell of newspaper ink. Imust admit I'd LOVE to have a newspaper girl with such an attitude, delivering the news to my front door.

I remember one boy about my age sitting in a tree in his front yard yelling, "Tonia is a tomboy. Tonia the tomboy. Tony the tomboy", and I was heartbroken. I was trying my absolute hardest to be ultra cool and somewhat mysterious and there he was, sitting high on his pedestal {or tree branch}, calling me names.

Twenty-three years later I'd certainly love to wear these AG tomboy jeans {from Anthropologie} to the day party portion of my 20th high school reunion, find that stupid boy and let him call me Tony the tomboy all he wants.

LOVE THE SPARROW

This hoodie is adorable. I'm gonna have to save up my pennies and consider adding this to my wardrobe. Anyone who knows me knows my hoodies are often over worn. I explained to my friend Ryan the other day that I am a creature of habit. If I find something I like I don't hesitate to wear it as often as possible. To the point of feeling like I have a personal relationship with the item. I'm currently seeing a certain pair of USU sweatpants my sister gave at Christmas. It's getting serious!

CHRISTMAS LOUNGEWEAR

How many of us have grown up with the same tradition? The one where you get a new set of pretty pajamas on Christmas eve. It was one of my favorite things and whether it was a nightgown with Barbie or ET, I always slept better that night. There's just nothing like new pajamas.
I'm posting this in hopes that Nate will get desperate for Christmas ideas, read this, and get me one of these cute items. I need a good night's sleep! All these beauties are from Anthro.

CAN I PULL IT OFF?

Nate and I went to dinner a few nights ago with Ryan, one of my friends from work. As we sat in the loft of Porcupine Grille, I noticed a pretty blond girl walk up the stairs wearing skinny dark wash jeans, a t-shirt, and some moccasin boots similar to these I found at Urban Outfitters.
Could I pull this look off? It seemed so simple, funky, and comfortable. I have yet to find skinny jeans made for girls with thighs. Not just thighs, but thighs that hiked Kilimanjaro without batting a lash. Those kind of thighs. If anyone knows of skinny jeans made for Kilimanjaro thighs, please let me in on the secret.

TIP OF THE HAT TO THE FEDORA

They are my new favorite accessory. The question I cannot answer, though, "Can I leave it on all day or do I have to take it off when I'm inside?" Does anyone have an answer for me? Fedora all day?

It's boot weather. Put away your pretty little heels made of temperamental suede and fabric and pull on a pair of boots that will take you through autumn rain, and winter snow. I like boots that give me the option to tuck in my pants for practical form and function {and some style, too}.

I love these Dolce Vita flat ankle strap peep-toes {yellow}, but if I could get ANYTHING I wanted, I'd get these Bahira t-straps by Tracy Reese. {red and white}. Double sigh!

A MONTH OF OUTFITS

I would absolutely love to have this kind of plan in place for the next 30 days. You know how much quicker I could be ready in the morning if I had it all mapped out? Most mornings I'm okay. And then there is the occasional shit morning where I spend 45 minutes locked in my little walk in closet trying on and ripping off every item that once hung there.
I'm gonna spend a little bit of time the next few days; outfitting myself with some much needed new shoes and a few other essential items. Maybe this can be a weekend project; I think it would look really great to have 30 polas hanging in a row. And what a great place to turn when the morning blues hit.

I want these pants to lounge around in. Not that I lounge much these days, but if I did I'd wear them and I wouldn't have a care in the world. A girl can dream.

KEEP, OR THROW BACK

I got this coral colored shirt dress from Old Navy a few weeks ago. I envisioned wearing it with a pair of yellow ballet flats and a pretty cardigan. Or maybe I could add a thick belt. It seems versatile enough but I find myself wondering..."keep, or throw back?"

SOMETHING I COULD GET USED TO

While we were on Kaua'i, we experienced a miraculous phenomenon. Each day while we were out playing in the sun, a secret fairy would go to our room and drop a fabulous present on our bed. The first day we got a gift basket of macadamia nuts, the second night we got a certificate to go pick out our own pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. These are by far the most expensive sunglasses I've ever owned. My I never sit on them, drop them on the ground in a parking lot, or leave them sitting on the counter at the bank. Pretty, huh?

HUDSON JEANS: ARE THEY STILL COOL?

I have a pair of Hudson jeans that I am loving lately. They fit me just perfectly. Snug but not tight. They are low-ish rise but don't risk showing my arse to the world if tragedy {like dropping my keys} should occur. The question is, are they still cool? Mine are just plain ol' Hudson jeans, no really cool pockets of specifically trendy wash. Should I still wear them and feel totally hip and cool in them?

LIFE CHANGING DECISION

I just made a big decision. One I'm hoping I can stick to for a while. I know it will change things for me. And I know it might make some things less comfortable...but the decision has been made and I'm not going back. For now.
For the next month I am going to try and avoid wearing anything but flats to work. You heard me right. No heels. I go up and down several flights of marble stairs every day, multiple times. And I'm slowed down, encumbered, by the heels. Yes, they look great. But the safety and speed limitations have made up my mind for me. Please support me in this life changing decision.
